photo Francis Ali-Osman, MD
Dr. Ali-Osman attended the University of Texas at Austin and later received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio. He is currently a resident with the Department of Surgery, and is working with Dr. Sunil Ahuja and Dr. Seema Ahuja, researching the role of chemokines and their receptors in immune functions. He is also currently a graduate student in the School of Biomedical Sciences here at the Health Science Center.

photo Rafael F. Diaz Flores, MD, MPH
After graduating from Monterrey Tech School of Medicine, Dr. Diaz went on to obtain a Master in Public Health from Harvard. He then joined the Brigham and Women's Hospital Center for Surgery and Public Health, where he participated in research aimed at preventing error in surgery. Dr. Diaz did his internship in General Surgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital before joining UTHSCSA to complete his training.

Dr. Guajardo graduated Head of Class (Honors Award) with a final GPA 94.7/100; received Academic High Performance Award (National Assessment Center for Higher Education); fluent in Spanish.

 

 

 

photo Vinay Kumar Rai, MD
Dr. Rai graduated from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, the premier medical institute of India. He underwent his postgraduate surgical training in India. He worked for a brief period in NHS, UK before starting residency in U.S.A. He has also worked in rural areas of India where he provided primary care to the population. His other interests include cooking and listening to music.

Dr. Saad received his medical degree from the UT Health Science Center San Antonio. His research experience includes the UT Health Science Center at San Antonio department of physiology, and a summer undergraduate research fellowship at Austin College. Dr. Saad's current research is directed toward cardiothoracic surgical issues.

 

 

photo Lisa Thomas, DO
Dr. Thomas worked as a STEP Coordinator and participant for the American Medical Association where she helped organize the Midwestern University AMA chapter of Stop Tobacco Education Program at local elementary schools; also volunteered as a coordinator for the Undergraduate American Academy of Osteopathy where she was involved in organizing an auction that would benefit a children's hospital in San Diego, California; finally, she volunteered as an Examiner for TOPS Sports Physical Program where she helped conduct sports physical for teens who couldn't otherwise afford it.
