Dr. Burlew grew up in San Antonio, Texas. She is a graduate of Amherst College, earning her degree in biology magna cum laude. She attended UT Southwestern Medical School, where she was ranked first in her class and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. She completed her general surgery residency and Surgical Critical Care fellowship at the University of Colorado. Dr. Burlew joined the faculty at Denver Health Medical Center/University of Colorado to pursue her interest in trauma and critical care. A professor of surgery, she also is director of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit. She is the program director of the Surgical Critical Care Fellowship and the AAST-approved Trauma & Acute Care Surgery Fellowship. Dr. Burlew has been an active surgical investigator, educator, and clinician; she has received multiple awards in each of these areas. She has authored over 180 peer-reviewed articles and 70 book chapters. She has given over 100 national lectures and scientific presentations.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint providership of the UT Health San Antonio Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine. The Long School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The Long School of Medicine designates this live activity up to a maximum of 12.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Hotel Emma, 136 E. Grayson St., San Antonio, Texas 78215. The single/double occupancy guest room rate, subject to availability, is $295/night plus taxes and fees. The “cut-off date” for reserving rooms in the Room Block is May 16, 2019. Reservation requests received after the cut-off date will be based on availability at the hotel’s prevailing rates. J. Kent Trinkle Alumni Cocktail Event — Saturday, June 15, 2019; 10 p.m.
The J. Kent Trinkle Alumni Cocktail Event will be held in the Courtyard at the Hotel Emma. The event this year will be an informal gathering (no registration is required).

Golf Tournament — Sunday, June 16, 2019; Tee Times Begin at 8 a.m. (meet at 7:30 a.m.)
The golf tournament will be held at Brackenridge Park Golf Course at 2315 Avenue B. Tee times begin at 8 a.m. The format will be a four-player scramble and the cost is $77 per person. Members are encouraged to sponsor a resident for this event. Guests are welcome. Please use the annual meeting registration form to register for this activity. Please plan to meet in the pro shop at 7:30 a.m.

Sporting Clays — Sunday, June 16, 2019, 9 a.m.
The sporting clay event will be held at the National Shooting Complex at 5931 Roft Rd., San Antonio, Texas 78253 (210-254-1537), beginning at 9 a.m. The National Shooting Complex will provide certified instructors, loaner guns (you may also bring your own), ammunition, eye and ear protection, and beverages. Fifty sporting clays will be offered to each participant at a cost of $133. Members are encouraged to sponsor a resident for this event. Guests are welcome. Please use the annual meeting registration form to register for this activity. Please plan to meet in the hotel lobby by 8:20 a.m. or at the National Shooting Complex at 8:45 a.m.
